Our Story
Built by one founder with ADD, for anyone who has too many projects open and nowhere that shows them all at once.
Who builds TaskGuru?
TaskGuru is built by one person: me, Byron Goldberg. There isn't a team behind the "we" you'll see elsewhere on this site — just a founder who needed this tool to exist and built it.
Why I built TaskGuru
I have ADD. Long task lists don't help me get things done — they make me freeze. Open a project tool, see forty things I'm supposed to be doing, close the tab.
The task apps I tried were either too simple to hold everything I was juggling across projects, or complex enough that I never made it past setup. Neither one solved the actual problem: deciding what to do next, and getting back into something after I'd stopped.
So I built the tool I needed. Every project and task on one screen, so nothing is hidden behind another tab. Contextual chat attached to each task, so the discussion about a piece of work lives on that piece of work. And Ultra Focus Mode, which strips the interface down to the one task I said I was doing.
What TaskGuru believes about productivity software
The app isn't where the work happens
A task app's job is to get you back to the real work faster than anything else you could have opened instead.
Speed beats features
Every screen in TaskGuru is built to be faster to use than it would be to explain.
The interface should reduce decisions
A visible list of forty items isn't information — it's a reason to open a different tab. Ultra Focus Mode exists to remove that decision, not add to it.
